Mercedes Sprinter 170 Wheelchair Accessible Mobility Van
This Sprinter 170 was designed around one thing: moving through the van with a wheelchair.
Access:
The family brought the van to us with a rear wheelchair lift already installed. From the lift, a 30-inch aisle runs up the middle of the van, wide enough to roll a wheelchair all the way to the front. Behind the driver’s seat, floor-mounted Q’Straint tie-downs secure the chair so their son can ride in it.
Transfers:
A straight ceiling track runs overhead with a power lift and sling. Lift from the chair, roll to the back, lower into bed. It’s simple on purpose.
Sleeping and Caregiving:
At the rear is a custom zero gravity bed, built 20 inches wide to match the mattress their son already uses. The head and feet both raise. Across the aisle, a small sofa keeps a caregiver close by.
Galley:
A slim ICECO fridge and a skinny sink add some convenience without narrowing the aisle. A microwave and upper cabinets sit overhead, a flip-down TV hangs behind the cab, and LED ambient lighting runs along the cabinets.
Every inch of this layout was planned around how this family travels. That’s the point: we can design a van exactly the way you need it.
